I agree Sea-tide, and thank you - we (he at some point, as you have done!) will need to start really looking at many alternative travel routes/methods. I think I really lucked out with the 5/27 travel at $300.

Ours flights jumped $80 from yesterday morning to late last night.

Tip #27: if you have been searching a lot, clear your cookies before re-searching. Those clever computer gremlins know you need a certain flight, and when you keep checking, it might not trigger price decreases? Or so I have heard…

this site has helped me find lower airfares at times… student does have to become a member ($25… click on the icis link). (they get an email to upload a pic and receive a card that may have to be shown at airport)… last flight son booked to visit family was 100 cheaper than he found on kayak, hipmunk etc

aeromom - okay so my IT guy is at BAMA so how does one clear cookies; only way I know is with a tall glass of milk ;)

Clearing cookies may work or may not as fare availability is published and accessible online. Availability is determined by the amount of seats available in each fare “bucket,” which are denoted by certain letters and are usually seen on ones boarding pass or detailed fare information. Connecting flights can be more complicated since many airlines employ something called married segment logic which means that availability for flights A and B together may not match the lower of the individual flights’ availabilities.

socal2bama, the command to clear cookies is Control Shift Delete. :)
