Cornell is one of these schools that lower your Cornell grant if you get outside scholarships after you reduce your "self help" money like loans. So my question is, if I have to pay say $10000 upfront and the gov need based loans is $2000, and I have a scholarship of $2000, does that mean I never have to pay that $2000 back since my scholarship covered it?

Also, does that mean you can just take out as much need based loans as you can so that your scholarship doesn't go to waste?
