Outside Scholarships

Hey everyone! So I received an outside scholarship of $1,000 but already spend most of it on eye appointments (i need glasses) that my mother refused to get for me. Do i report whatever I have not spent? or will I get in trouble??

You report it all.

I’m confused. You mention in your other thread with exactly the same title that you want to use it for transportation ONLY and school supplies. But here you mention that you spent it mostly on eye appointments. Is it two different scholarships?

Anywho, you’re supposed to report it all. Questions may come up around tax time if you don’t.

Almost $1000 for eye appointments? I see ads all the time for free eye exam and $69.95 for two pairs of glasses.

You have to report the entire $1,000 to the school’s financial aid department.

If your total grants and scholarships are more than your tuition and books, then the excess is reportable on your income taxes.

thanks
