Overall Questions on the Subjects

Let's cut to the chase. When I took the SAT as a sophomore, I scored a 2280. I was happy with that.

Now, I'm going into my junior year. I have registered to take:

AP Biology
AP English Language and Composition
AP US History
Spanish 3
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Philosophy of Life
Journalism

This is the most rigorous schedule possible for junior year at my school.

Now, I was wondering.

Would a third year high school Spanish class be sufficient to possibly get a 750+ on the SAT Spanish Test? I have no family members speaking Spanish (I'm Irish/Chinese).

Both AP English Lit and English Lang are offered for junior year. I chose Lang because I'm pretty well-written and the English Lit teacher (my 10th grade English teacher) really dislikes me (long story). Now, will AP English Language prepare me for well for the SAT Literature Test (780+)?

Thank you so much for your responses. Sorry for any typos (typed on my phone while waiting in line). 8^J

I think you should wait till Spanish 4 to take the test, it’s nearly AP-level I have heard.

I am in Honors Spanish 3, and will take AP Spanish next year. I looked at the SAT II test but it looks pretty difficult. If you do want to take it, you’ll have to study hard to get a 750+.

Not sure about Spanish, but I took Lit this year, after AP English Language, and got a 770. I think it’s the kind of test where you really need to just be a good reader to do well; I don’t think my review book helped me much at all.

I’m guessing if you’re going to take Lit, then after AP Lang will give you as good of a shot as you’ll ever get.

Thanks to all who replied! About the SAT Lit, I know that a lot of the test in on prose, but there is a great deal on poetry and sonnets. That’s what I am kind of concerned about. Do you think that the poetic section of the SAT Lit test could be tackled with just some out of school studying? Thanks!
