Overnight Guests

Does anyone know if I (as an incoming freshman girl at Villanova in fall of 2015) would be allowed to have an over night guest who is a boy who does not go to Villanova? I have heard various responses to this question but i just want to know if I as a freshman girl can have a non resident boy stay overnight in a dorm with me. Thanks!

I can only speak to the rules from 3 years ago when I was a freshman: Officially no, in practice yes. All freshman dorms are coed by floor, and the policy (applying only to freshmen) was that there should be no boys on the girls floor (and visa versa) after midnight. In practice people did this all the time, and the rule was only enforced when the RA’s came across a room that was being too loud.

I was a freshman last year, and it depends on your RA. Last year, they enforced this rule if it was past 2 AM and you were being loud, but all they do is kick out the opposite gender and no disciplinary action is taken. It is however a very annoying rule and for some reason only applies freshman year.

The bigger problem I see and the reason for having the rule is to respect your roommate(s). It can become a huge problem when the other person paying for the room feels they need to find somewhere else to stay while you and your “friend” are busy… hanging out. I would think that would be harder on a girl to have to deal with then if it was a girl sneaking into a guys room. But the campus security patrols some dorms more then others, more at night, and check ID in some, but sneaking people in is possible. Maybe have a male friend sign your friend in as a legitimate guest and find a guys room to hang out in. And parking can be tricky. They may have to get a guest parking pass or risk getting a fine. There really is nowhere off campus to park.
