Overqualified?

I got differed from SCU business school. This came as a HUGE shock to me as I thought I was pretty much just a shoo in. Looking at these stats, I have better stats than a lot of these kids and was wondering if they differ over qualfied students who they do not think will attend as I didn't show any interest visiting or contacting amidssions. Do you think it would be ok to call thier admissions office and ask why I was differed? Seriously confused here

You will never get a real answer from any admin office. You are better off asking your HS guidance counselor for insights.

Also realize that SCU eventually turns down almost 1/2 of the applicants. Most of them are well qualified and could do well at SCU. The admins do not simply look for the “top” half and boot the rest…they get to cherry pick a freshman class with certain qualities or mix. It does not make YOU better or worse if you weren’t picked, they just were aiming for some other mix of students.

Find it odd that anyone would think their a shoo in, especially at SCU and especially the business school. Unless you have a perfect SAT score, are a merit Scholar or have a GPA of 4.6 or more weighted with at least a 3.95 unweighted I wouldn’t say your a shoo in at SCU. Lucky you got differed from SCU at least you might get another shot at maybe getting in.

Have to agree not sure why you would even think your overqualified, I mean seriously at Santa Clara I don’t think anyone can call themselves overqualified.

That might be part of the problem…
