DONT INSULT A SCHOOL ON ITS OWN BOARD! what do u expect? the people here want to go here? why else would they be looking at it?

Anyone who gets into an awesome school like Duke has bragging rights. Yup. Now, I'm just hoping that I get in :)

No, I think that people should be able to voice criticisms of a school on its own board. Duke is not perfect and that should be reflected to prospective students.

That said, ivysrule's comments ARE pretty useless.
Oh my gosh, I met these really arrogant guys from Spain! SPAIN MUST BLOW!
or
The nicest, bestest person I ever met is going to University of Southeastern College Town! IT SHOULD BE RANKED NUMBER ONE!

It's just not smart logic, as I think we all realize by now.

Ivysrule, you're not being blasted because people here don't agree with you necessarily (though that's largely true) but rather because your argument is ridiculous, as I hope you see now.

ok, i will change my statement

i dont think duke is overrated, i take that back

my main point is this: yes i agree that those who get in to any college early have earned some amount of "bragging" rights..if u want to call them that. I do not think that they have the right to gloat every day and shove it in people's faces. That's what I have dealt with every day and it's getting old fast. It has nothing to do with Duke itself, just all colleges in general. I agree that Duke is an amazing school with lots to offer. My bitterness towards certain people i guess tinted my view and i apologize.

I would agree with you that some people take "bragging rights" too far. I personally HATE when people shove stuff about their college in my face, and I think most people would agree. I don't brag about my school to people.

I also think that you're on the right track when you put the responsibility on the people, not the schools. I don't think that you can blame the schools really, but how people react to the schools they are accepted to really tells you a LOT about the people themselves. I mean, take the Nobel Prize; if someone constantly brags about winning it, it doesn't mean the prize is bad, it means the person's an jerk.

GQ magazine had a list of the 25 most overrated things of 2004.
Yale University was the only college on that list. (Still my top choice though haha)
They had a second list of "So Overrated That They're Underrated" List.
Duke University and Thongs made that list.
I wholeheartedly agree.

So overrated that they're underrated?
What does that even mean?

i like your comments ay caramba you seem quite wise

idk exactly what overrated that theyre underrated means but i guess its so known for being overrated that it becomes underrated idk but it makes some sense to me lol

Haha yea that's what it means. It's become such a common thing to label Duke overrated that now people don't realize it's still a top-notch school and so it becomes underrated.

Thanks!

Oh I see about the overrated/underrated thing. I think that there definitely seems to be some truth in it in Duke's case.... and as for thongs... no comment...

What the hell? How can Duke possibly be overrated?!?!?!

They beat both UNC and Wake Forest, along with Michigan State. You must be an Illinois troll.

i dont think they were referring to the athletics....

um yeah I know.

than ure comment made no sense

Tired of seeing overrated/underrated stuff, figured I'd change the context to confuse you all. Looks like it worked.

lol, its lateish, im very susceptible to confusion right now

it worked, as long as "you all" was one person...

Duke is an awesome school

GAAH!!!!! lol
