Hi All I posted here a few weeks ago and have since progressed my app. UCAS is almost ready to go, my personal statement like many is proving 'tricky' to say the least, but it will be done and it will be good before October 15th.

My specific issue is around my school/counselor recommendation, I worked with my US High School Counselor to get this done and it is complete, the issue is even working with my senior teachers he felt unable to offer forecasted/expected grades for my 5 AP subjects this year (May 2014), I guess we are only one month into the school but still, I thought he might 'guess', but I guess not!. UCAS advised me of this, but did not offer a solution, of which I don't know there is one aside me saying, "Yeah I will get 3 x 5 and a couple of 4's at AP"! So is this going to hurt me? and the chance of getting an interview assuming I can do well on the TSA November 6th?

I already have an AP US History 5 and 4 SAT subject tests in Literature, Biology, US History and World History scoring, 740, 730 & 2 x 800's, so I see that as 4 equivalent AP 5's or SAT subject tests of 700+, Yes?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks

BTW I'm applying for PPE @ Brasenose ( Dual-Citizen US/British) living and school in USA

Just be sure you can achieve whatever you put down, as they might be part of your conditions (if you get any). Out of curiosity, why PPE (v say, History & Politics)? Also, FYI, the dual citizenship won’t make any difference to your application.

With a good TSA and PS you should be good for getting an interview.

You know that you will still have to pay the higher international fees? Citizenship has no bearing on this. It is all about where your parents pay tax.

Thanks Collegemom & Cupcake. I understand UK citizenship may not help but I have UK funding for my degree, I guess at the moment its about putting my best foot forward and aiming to get an offer!. With regard to why PPE, its a good Q, I have/will apply to several US colleges and Universities to study PPE (inc Yale, Pomona) and others in addition to an interdiscplinary (PPE like), I have strong interest in Philosophy, Economics and Government and would like to study all three initially and then narrow a focus perhaps to Govt in 2nd/3rd years, I enjoyed AP Econ and studied PHIL 101 at college during the summer, I think I will really enjoy a PPE program where-ever I finally get accepted be it Oxford (hopefully) or another University or LAC. Any thoughts on others which may offer “PPE-Like”. I have Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Yale, Pomona, Pitzer, UCLA among others on my list. I do not want to ‘go South’, and no interest in Religious colleges, so its really West Coast vs East Coast, although I have a safety PPE at the University of Arizona already accepted on Assured Admittance. Thanks for your insights most helpful. Still struggling with Personal Statement!

Princeton has a tutorial type system that was modeled on Oxbridge.

I asked about history, because that is what most of your scores are. Also, you have no math. Per the website, 90% of successful PPEists have math to at least AS level and if you look at the stalking pages on the student room site (admittedly not scientific) you will see that most take it to A level. The PPE website notes that a strong math background is very helpful, and since they won’t see that you have an A in Honors Calc from the hardest teacher in the hardest school they won’t know that you have that. Can you squeak in a Math II SAT2?

Wait- just re-read you post- you have AP Econ (macro & micro)? Did you not take the exam, or did you just not mention it above, or are you planning to take it in May?

Taken AP Micro & Macro Econ got 4’s. I am doing AP Stats this year will take exam may 2014, I have 4 years of Math inc: Pre-Calc/Finite Math, 5 years including Stats since I took Alg I/II in 8th grade, not sure about Math II/SAT2 hmmm, do you think AP Stats at a 5 would suffice?
