I received very similar aid packages from both schools. I feel like I'll fit in better in oxy, but I like SCU's location better. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also is anyone involved or familiar with rock climbing clubs/groups/culture at oxy?

I don’t think Oxy’s location can’t be beat! But keep in mind that you’re posting this on the Oxy forum.

Despite that, I still vote Oxy.

Hi seriyes, I’m an intern from the Office of Admission at Oxy and a current sophomore! In regards to your post, I personally love Oxy’s location in North East LA and our position in Southern California. I know there are clubs that go hiking around the area (LA has TONS of opportunities for hiking) and appreciate the balance LA has between an urban and outdoor-friendly environment. I don’t know of any rock climbing clubs, but I know Oxy has students who would be interested in that if you asked around. That’s another great thing about the Oxy community in general, people really utilize group forums like facebook to reach out to other students for nearly anything – to find cross-country driving partners, people to go to concerts with, participants in a psychology survey, etc etc. I mean this genuinely when I say that you can always find students who share your interests to join you in a new activity!
