P2P/torrents?

So I am used to working with torrents a lot, as it is easier to find what you're looking for (especially if you live in a very small country like me)

I would like to know if it is allowed to use torrents and programs like utorrent/bittorrent at Lafayette College? What is the policy? Are there penalties for students using P2P networks?

Thanx

anyone???

Here is the email address of Janine Block who is the international student advisor for the Student Life office. She should be able to help you find the answers to your questions.

Torrents and P2P’s are technically illegal in the United States (and technically illegal in almost every country in the world including yours I’m sure). It’s essentially piracy of music / softwars / movies / whatever you’re downloading.
It’s a fact that people still use it and use it often but using a torrent or a P2P is at your own risk and there is a chance that you will be facing prosecution. Be aware of that.
