PACE BFA Acting questions?

Are BFA Acting students provided opportunities to participate in the musicals? If you know/are a student there how did they like the program? What is the likelihood of me being accepted as a transfer student? I am a first semester freshman BA Theatre major.

Also, is Pace's BA Theatre Arts: Acting track auditioned?

I can’t answer all of your questions, but I did research and visit Pace with my son, who is now in another Acting BFA program. Unless they have changed their process radically from last year, Pace requires that all students gain general acceptance into the university before they can audition for the BFA program. Pace is on rolling admissions, and is not especially selective overall, so I’d recommend getting your application in ASAP. They are more selective in terms of scholarships; they have some very generous ones available for strong students, but they are as expensive as other Manhattan-based schools. The BFA audition and application requirements were complicated. They want a written statement (separate from Common App essay) on “why,” along with two letters of recommendation (again, separate from Common App) from “people familiar with your work in theater.” I understand that they schedule telephone interviews after their auditions if they are interested in the candidate. One advantage at Pace is that you can pursue a Theatre BA if you are not admitted into the Acting BFA program, and still be in NYC. I imagine that admission is not too difficult for the BA, but BFA transfers can be trickier, especially ones like Pace that are linked to specific studios. You might not be able to transfer any studio credits, although they will allow you to transfer general ed ones. Good luck!

BFA Acting transfers are unlikely. It is true transfers in any Performing Arts Program at Pace is difficult.

Pace Performing Arts is very selective- pre screen, live audition with a monologue and cold scene, movement callback, then phone interview.

With all that said they are wonderfully loving and supportive and are seeking the most talented and most driven students. Their process as I was told is designed to give insite into not only the talent but the individual. They want it to also reflect the rigger of the programs

Their BA is interesting too as it is all devised work where the small ensamble works with a professional director creating new material that is then presented at international festivals.

Everyone there when I was tour was so encouraging and supportive. It seems like they are going through wonderful changes including moving into a new 8 floor building that has been designed for the. It felt like the most exciting place to be
