Hi, all! I'm back...I was in the hospital for a couple of days. They say I have severe vertigo. While I'm at home (happily) and on meds, the world is a wild and crazy place for me. I can't see straigiht. I stagger and stumble when I walk. Quite an experience. If it's viral based, I shouild get beyond this in 5-9 weeks, if not...on to more testing. While it'll take me a while to read through all your answers, I just wanted to let all of you know how much I appreciate your help. Also, to KYDAD, I will be in touch with you as soon as the room stops spinning.

Orange, Having gone through a similiar illness a few years ago, you have my sympathies. It is NOT fun. Hope you are feeling better and more stablized soon.

Me too. In my case it was Meniere's. Not fun at all! Hope it's gone soon....

Check out K&W College Guide for LEarning Disabled! Great resource. Also find a college consultant who specializes in LD students. You can write or email book authors and they would be of great help. I know one personally and she is WONDERFUL a great resource!!

I second the suggestion to investigate Meniere's as a potential cause of the vertigo. "Not fun" is the mild way to put it, voronwe ;). Hope you are feeling better soon, OB....

I was a "non traditional"(aka old) graduate student at UVM until May 2005. I had to take some undergrad classes to see if I was worthy to attend grad school. I do have some first hand knowledge of UVM's supports for students. They do a GREAT job. I was willing to tutor a student in one of my classes who was LD and on the nordic ski team. They really went out of their way to ensure that students are supported. There is help available in the dorms in the evening; I was available to help study as well as people stationed in the Library to assist with reasearch and writing papers. UVM made sure that all kids who were on the ski team had laptops and hookups when they went to nationals.(They were in AK for 2 weeks) They emailed work back to UVM and they could live chat with their professors frequently for help. Email was available as well. Very impressive.

My S has a LD attneds Baylor in texas Is having great success and the woman who runs their sucess is very good! also they have criminal justice!! A great conservative school My son is very happy there and we do not live in the southwest.

I recall seeing an entire book in the college section at Borders that listed and evaluated all the colleges that specailize in kids with LD or ASDD as well as those that don't specailize but have services that accomodate the differences. Check it out.
