I would love to see this!
Did you or anyone you know wear a paper dress? I don’t think I owned one…not sure my mom would have, but I remember being told that one day we would all be wearing paper clothing. That didn’t happen!
I think it’s such interesting fashion. The COLORS. The PRINTS. I personally love the shape!
Looks like they cost $1 in some places! If you found one today for say $10 - would you give it a shot?

It would depend on whether they felt like the bib at the dentists office, or similar medical-adjacent paper products that don’t feel too cozy on the skin…

I think maybe my mother had a paper dress… or at least mentioned the concept. Not sure if I’d try one.
I had surgery in early 2021, and I couldn’t believe how awesome my surgical gown was. It was made of some type of disposable paper, but it was heavy and sturdy (nothing like the usual flimsy, easily torn gowns I am used to). It had a hose attached, and warm air was blown into it. Maybe the artwork from the 60’s laid the groundwork for the surgical gown I wore! Art is an amazing tool for exploring what often becomes reality in the future.

I had one that was a birthday gift from an aunt. I wore it around the house, but I was probably a 5th or 6th grader at the time and it was mostly a dress-up thing. It was Kelly green with pink and yellow flowers. Hadn’t thought about that in years

We saw a fabulous exhibit of paper clothing at the Phoenix Art Museum a year ago. Two pretty big rooms filled with these garments…plus great write ups about the history of paper clothing, the whys and whens.
We loved it.
ETA…I just looked at the pictures, and this looks like the same exhibit…
I can highly recommend it.

So great you went! I was in NYC this time last year and may be this time next year - but darn it, not this year!
We happened to go to the Phoenix Art Museum in March 2022. There is always some special exhibit, and when we were there, this paper clothing one was the special exhibit. We all really loved it. The best comment was from our son…who asked “why aren’t there any women’s pants?” Well…because when these were made…women didn’t wear pants outside the home. Heck…I don’t remember my mom ever wearing a pair of pants during that era!

The exhibition is curated from the Phoenix Art Museum’s collection. I hope it comes to the museum near me - I’d really like to see it.

I wondered. The info in Phoenix said the collection was almost all contributed by one family, and I thought they were from Phoenix!
My mom had one in 1967 or 1968. I was fascinated by the idea. I think it was a print with pink and orange.
Interesting that Hallmark (the card shop) offered one!
