Paranoia: Being blackmailed?

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure I'm being paranoid, but I heard my friend who got ****ed at my other friend over drama said he was gonna send the admission offices of the colleges he was applying to some stuff that would "ruin his chances and image". Is this possible? Has this ever happened before?

A) It’s unlikely your friend will act on his threats, and B) Colleges know that information from students and fellow applicants isn’t necessarily honest. They will call your school’s guidance counselor for more information.

Hm, I’m still wondering how many times this has actually happened, considering it could still damage an applicant’s image unconciously for the admission officers.

I doubt admissions officers would reject someone on the basis that an anonymous source sent a negative letter.

Like glassesarechic mentioned, they would call the applicants GC to confirm any suspected behavior.

bump

10 char

Yeah but if he sent in a pic… that could be pretty damning.

^A picture would be meaningless since admissions officers don’t know what you look like, unless you are interviewed by the person who reviews your application.

I think you need to talk to your guidance counselor at your school and do it now. Be honest and frank about what is happening, and this person knows.

First, don’t worry about it, unless you have been in legal trouble or suspended from school or had other disciplinary problems that the college is not aware. If this is the case then you need to discuss this with your guidance counselor as another poster suggested. Most applications ask for this information and you have to be honest, if you have not, then do so now.
