I am a rising senior and already starting the application process. My dream school is UT’s Cockrell school, but I fear that my numbers are no match. I am not top 6% and my school doesn’t rank passed that, also I am retaking the SAT in August but my practice tests are in the range of 1370-1420. I am planning on applying for the priority deadline. Also, I have many extracurriculars and volunteering. What are my chances into getting into UT Engineering?
An engineering admit will be tough with those stats.
My second choice major is in the College of Natural Sciences, what do my chances for natural sciences seem like?
You should consider UT a reach school. Be sure to find match and safety schools to apply to.
Your school doesn’t rank the top 10% for other Texas university auto-admission?
If your school is a feeder and you have significant leadership and extracurricular success, it will help. However, find match and safety options.
Try for UT but consider SMU for Engineering if you want to be in state. Your stats should be a match, and while SMU is an expensive school, they award a ton of merit aid generally and through their engineering school (Lyle).
