Parent with Graduate Degree Offering Essay Help

Hi - I'm fairly new to this forum, so I hope I am posting to the right area, and that my offer is allowed. If not, please feel free to either let me know publicly or privately. Thanks.

Basically, I would just like to offer an extra "ear" if you will if anyone applying to college, especially to the Ivies or Ivy Caliber schools (like M.I.T.) would like me to read over their essays and offer my opinion. I wish to make it clear that I am not a professional writer and have nothing to do with admissions of any school. However, I have won several writing contests over the years, and pride myself with the ability to edit fairly well. On the other hand, I'm the first to state that writing is extremely subjective, and humor or what may be deemed a well written essay to one reader may appear quite the opposite to another. (Which is why I think getting multiple points of view may be best). If you'd care to share, please send your essay to me at mathlearner@ymail.com

Additionally, if you have already been accepted to an Ivy League and wouldn't mind sharing your essay, it might be very helpful to me in trying to help ascertain the type of essays others should be aspiring to. (Yes, I am aware books have been written about this sort of thing - but I am appealing to the general population - not a select few for whom someone might write a "how to" book.)

Sound good? Again, I can't promise my advice will prove helpful, so please take it or leave it as you see fit. But send away!! And best of luck to all who are applying to colleges this year.
