parent wondering - how DO you pay for law school?

Here’s another very newbie question… My son will be applying for student loans for law school, but he doesn’t have a job. So, how will he qualify for the loan? are student loans for graduate school different from say car loans and home loans where you have to show that you actually can pay these loans with a job?

Thanks so much for any help at all.

For student loans, no job is necessary. Some private loans need co-signers though.

Lenders are assured that educational loans cannot be discharged through bankruptcies like some consumer or home loans.

Your son will be able to borrow up to the full cost of attendance through a grad plus loan with no co-signer needed.

cbreeze and sybbie719, Thank you so much! this makes us feel better. Good to know :)
