Parents are divorced and I need help

^^^

I agree. It sounds odd.

But, this student claims that Wellesley told them that Wellesley only looks at bio parents’ income - which we know is not typical of CSS schools and those that require NCP info…

I agree, that the spouses’ incomes will be on the CSS forms and that certainly the tax forms are going to show step-parent incomes if the couples file jointly.

I wonder if this student misunderstood Wellesley. I wonder if when they were speaking of using both bio parents’ incomes, they didn’t mean to suggest that they excluded their spouses’ incomes. But, who knows?

That’s why I asked…which CSS school is this that supposedly doesn’t look at any step-parent incomes.

NONE…Sybbie called a contact at Wellesley and posted the info about this on another thread also dealing with this question. The DO look first at the bio parents…but they don’t totally dismiss the stepparent’s info. And if the total income of the bio parents exceeds $60k the student CAN be get more than $13K in loans. You will have to look for Sybbie’s response…I don’t want to misquote her information…but the bottom line is that Wellesley does use stepparent info…after they use the bio parent info.

Oh…what Profile schools do not look at stepparent info…well the ones that do NOT require the non-custodial form would NOT look at the spouse of the non-custodial parent.
