Parents are expected to contribuate 1/3 of their income....should I appeal?

Maybe you won the appeal because of your great attitude. Congratulations. It’s nice to hear a good outcome sometimes.

what oldfort said! I’m sure with your personality and cooperativeness you will be more than a minor asset to Wake.

Wow! CONGRATULATIONS!

Many, many congrats. Pay it forward to another young person like yourself who has brains, humility, the willingness to work hard and who APPRECIATES the opportunities that have been given him.

Go forth and do well!

P.S. Good for you for applying for and landing other affordable options had Wake Forest not panned out.

Just want to say thanks for coming back and giving us all an update. It is very helpful to others in upcoming application cycles to get the answer as well as the question. Many students move on without updating and we wonder how it all turned out. Glad it worked out for you!

Good for you!

Great news!! Congratulations to you for handling this with such maturity and a positive atitude.

I was going to suggest you go the merit award appeal but you beat me to it! It worked way better for one of my friends than the the appeal to the finaid office. Congrats!

Congratulations RockerDude, I am a sophomore at Wake and in the exact same boat, i’m pretty sure we got standard wake forest aid. However, thanks to your post I am appealing for aid too. This past year we could not make monthly payments for my tuition and my grandmother and aunts and uncles had to cover us for most of the payments. So hopefully my appeal will be as successful as yours. Wake Forest is a wonderful school and I love it here, it’s worth every penny. I just don’t think it’s worth quite my entire house! Good luck next year!

Congratulations! Have a wonderful time at Wake! I know that the generosity of my alma mater just motivated me more to give them some alumna money, and not in 20 years, either. I’m trying to save a nice chunk for my 5-year reunion, as it is our tradition to Reunion and contribute on the 5s and 10s :D
