Parents of kids who take AP courses, do your kids have a job?

Both of my kids take 3 AP classes. One works only during the summer (but does 2 sports during the year) and the other works year round, but during school weeks works only on the weekends. She’s been working almost every day over winter break so that kind of sucks for her. She has 2 Bs this year in AP classes but I don’t think it’s related to her work hours. She had straight As last year.

My 11th grader does not work during the school year. She did non-paid programming and research work over the summer.

D1 started working at 15 as a life guard. She worked 30-40 hours/week during the summers. During the school year, she worked before school shifts at a local indoor pool three time a week. Her work day started at 6 am, classes at 7:25. She took at least 1-2 AP classes/semester her junior & senior year. (Her high school had limited AP offerings.)

D2 attended a top 50 day prep school. Starting the summer between sophomore & junior years (when she turned 15), she began working full time as a day camp counselor. The summer between junior & senior year, she had 2 different job–camp counselor during the week and different (service-type) job on the weekends. The weekend job continued all through her senior year. Starting her sophomore year she took at least 1 AP class each semester, by senior year she took 4 AP or post-AP classes each semester, Additionally she was very active in community service, volunteering twice a week of more with three or four different agencies. She received a letter of commendation/recognition from the state governor for her service at the end of her senior year.
