Yummm to the venison and a timid,"OK, I'll try a wee taste" to the haggis. The way you describe it's more like bangers and mash. I guess I should confess that one of my favorite meals as a young'un was beef tongue with plum sauce.

Jerseyshoremom, I was trying to find a time to get Son to his favorite school another time for an interview and a class visit (he visited over the summer.) I was stunned to find that the last day of class for the semester is Friday. Guess we won't be hearing from them before the first of the year.

Harriet - I am SO jealous!!! H & I wanted to go back to Scotland for our 20th next year, but due to the darn economy we will probably do something state-side. Glad you had a wonderful time and got to enjoy some haggis!!

Looks like nobody could get away from calculus - I know D and a couple of teammates were doing calculus crossing the state for their last meet!

HMW - welcome back! I remember haggis from my student days in Scotland - your description sounds way more appetizing than what I remember. But with a single-malt chaser, I could probably eat just about anything ;)

mmaah - thanks for posting the mom video link. I haven't seen it in a while. It becomes even more poignant now as D1 prepares to leave the nest.

Harriet, what a great experience for your family!

I hadn't thought of winter break coming so quickly...darn, was hoping to see the first acceptance this year. I suppose this is one more test of my resolve to be patient with the process AND the student. Some of Harriet's nice single-malts could definitely help.

OK Ya'll when your kid finishes her/his final app please join us for the shin dig in the DONE!! thread. There is a taco bar, a sushi bar and a haggis bar for Harriet. We have live music Kareoki and I think Rock Band as well as any other silly party ecoutremant you may want! (Please excuse any misspellings in English or other languages been chasing my haggis w/ Sake Margaritas hic)

We're knocking on the door to the DONE party, but I think we all deserve a bar bar as well!

Celebrating here - DS got his first acceptance today to his safety CSU school. HE'S GOING TO COLLEGE! Are you ready for this - the application was submitted on Friday, yes, 11/28, and he already received a congratulatory email. So much for the glut of applications and reduced admissions at Cal State schools.

Ok What do you do when the transcript was sent and the scores sent - many weeks ago - and the school says there not here? Resend or wait a week or so??
PS I can't wait till we can go to the DONE!! thread!

::dashes/staggers over from the DONE!! party to say:: Yay cpeltz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which campus again??? Holy Crud to the speedy turn around....It wasn't Cal Poly was it????!!! I am green with envy...or maybe it's the haggis/Sake/ Margarita causing my verdant hue. But mostly I am happy for you and your gifted and talented S and wishing one or both of my girls will get a similar CSU congrats.

woody fax the documents and ask that you be notified when they arrive. Best of luck I feel your frustration!

cpeltz: YES!!!
woody: don't wait. call. fax. don't wait -- you'll drive yourself (and possibly others) nuts
historymom: haggis? oy! stick with the margaritas. My kid's going to San Antonio so I feel entitled to learn how to make great margaritas. Hey I'm a lifelong learning kind o' gal.

bblfraser you gotta get the Margaritas down because I think the rule is that the person whose kid was first accepted throws the first CC Trinity parents' party...I know I read it somewhere. My goodness I hope to be there. hic

HistMom, it was CSUMB - coincidentally, I was born at Ford Ord Army hospital where the campus is! Of course, if I shared that with him, the school would be O-U-T for him. DS didn't apply to SLO, but I have two co-workers whose kids applied ED there. Keeping fingers crossed for all of your kids.

I feel so left out!! I want to come to the DONE party, I only fear when I finally get there it will be long over:( or everyone will be so intoxicated I will not be able to catch up ( I am really a light weight)

^^^then you'll be able to catch up quickly!

Woody- it took 4 weeks for schools to post info from materials sent, but I would call.

So--uh--S called #1 choice today as there has been many a mix-up about his app. Admin. told S that his letter has been sent and offered S his info re: decision and S said he wants to wait to recieve the letter (!!what--we have been waiting for a couple of months now!) and, I quote S, "it is part of the senior high school experience". I almost did not give him dinner tonight. Where does this kid get off being melodramtic and a romantic at this point. Ok--so just a vent and someone hold my hand. I do want this first choice for him as it is a good fit.

::extends hand to Oregon 101 to keep her from giving her S a well deserved whack up side the head::

CSUMB is my girls' safety as well! Congrats cpeltz, sharing that meal seems more and more likely :)

Thanks historymom! Nice warm hands on CC. Will keep all posted. ----still, I just cannot BELIEVE he did not let the admin tell him. she says as she goes wandering off...hmm bourbon anyone?

Woody--yes, get right on it. Can just be a computer glitch on their end (S's situation-the transcript arrived at the school around 10/23ish and did not register correctly...and 2 phone calls/one month later). And the Admin Offices are generally very nice. S called the first time and I called the second. Good luck.
