Congratulations, @NorthMinnesota ! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Congrats NM! Grandkids are the BEST!!!
Congratulations NM do exciting. Glad to hear about everyones TG.
I am thankful that the CT and MRI of my abdomen came back negative for cancer. It was quite a scary week in cancer hell. I donāt know why I am having problems and further investigation must be done. I think its medication related.
So now that I can be peeled off the ceiling I am checking this thread.
Still looking for a job./ Nothing seems quite right.
Cq I hope you get your coats.
I want a goldendoodle but my H does not want a dog. I will have to borrow. I really miss one.
I didnāt know you were doing badly DTE. Glad that the diagnosis was not cancer but sad that you still donāt know the cause.
DTE - hope you feel better soon and that they found out the underlying cause!
Well my pup is a mutt but great company and so much fun. I will say that I had forgotten how much work though a puppy is.
I am not doing badly, just had some pain that I couldnāt ignore .wouldnāt be responsible. I kind of turn inward when stressed. I donāt think this is actually good and reaching out is not a bad thing.
I have a friend with a new Golden he is adorable. she says it is so much work, but she loves it. She also has young children. so its perfect for the puppy. I wanted a goldendoodle because of the fur and allergies although I heard grooming can be an issue. I cant have a dog until I am home more.
Well Iām gone 9 hours a day but have the flexibility to go home at lunch to let her out. She is good and can go for a while. I have a fairly good support if needed. A couple of people in the neighborhood who we are friends with have volunteered to come over and let her out if I get busy at work and just canāt make it home. My D and S have also come over and let her out when needed. D itās easier for but S did it a couple of times when he was home on paternity leave. Now that he is back at work less of a backup for me and I really donāt want to ask my DIL unless Iām really at my wits end. She could do it but with 3 under 3 that is a lot to ask her to do plus they also have a dog! I do get up early and take the puppy for a walk in the dark since that is when I can manage it. Then some quick puppy training then I get ready for work. Another quick trip outside and Iām out for about 5 hours. Then quick home, out, a few more minutes of training then I rush back to work. At night it is all puppy at this point. That will change and I will have time to sew again but not yet! I do get some sewing time in on the weekends. She is a calm puppy that helps and she likes to nap and cuddle.
I hear you, dte.I miss my dog and would love to have another, but just canāt do it right now. My commute is about 45 minutes each way and H travels so no trips home in the middle of the day for me.
Taking a long weekend to go back to the midwest to see my mom. Sheās doing well in the assisted living but she misses my dad and being able to do things so she looks forward to visits from me or my sister. We wonāt be going for Christmas although S will be there for a few days later this month and that will cheer her up.
Iām very lucky that I work 10 miles from home. I can do the trip in 10 minutes if I am sure there arenāt any cops around. Typically though it takes me 15 minutes each way so gives me a bit of time with her.
dteā¦so sorry you havenāt been well. Take care of yourself.
Have been terribly busy trying to get things done for Christmas and still have some grandbaby time. SO much fun!
RM- I work about 10 miles from home but in DC traffic itās 45 minutes on a good day
Even as I type, our pup is playing her new āgameā with me ā I let her out into our fenced back yard here in Cambridge, but when she scratches at the door, she refuses to come inside. I close the door; she scratches and barks; I open the door; she wonāt come in. I am NOT pleased. Sheās impossible to catch if I chase after her. I try enticing her with treats, but she wonāt come in. At the moment Iām ignoring her. (Hopefully the neighbors wonāt start complaining about the barking ā¦)
Hope youāre feeling better soon, @downtoearth. Frustrating to not know what the problem is. Our Wheaten Terrier (see above) doesnāt shed. We keep her trimmed pretty short since we probably donāt comb her as often as we should. Happy to lend her to you ā¦
H is out of town so Iāll be running around trying to get a jump on Christmas shopping. We donāt do all that much in the way of gift exchanges, but I find it hard to even fill stockings ā always on the lookout for something new and different.
S may be getting sent to Afghanistan. Not a happy mama!
CBB - she just wants you to go out and play with her.
Sorry about your S getting sent to Afghanistan.
We are BIG BIG BIG on Christmas and exchanging presents. Each year I try - really try to cut down on the number but for some reason I just never can. Trying again this year. I think the 2 older grandkids are done but that is about it. Sadly I have very little time of late to get things done!
Our pup is going through some intestinal issues at the moment. Too much peanut butter treats I think so last night before H and I went to look at a house with D and SIL I had to make her a meal of boiled chicken and rice. Nothing like cooking for the dog! She ate better than H and I as we had leftovers heated in the microwave once we came home from seeing the house. Lots of potential but a LOT of work to make it there. D and SIL decided to not make and offer. I really supported that decision as I could see that really it was going to be a place where my H would be spending all his time just getting it the way she wanted it. So the hunt continues.
Okay everyone. It is that time of year again. Anyone find anything fun for stockings or something unique as a gift for your kids? Looking for some ideas.
Very sorry to hear about Afghanistan, CBB. I hope it doesnāt happen.
No advice on stockings or gifts. We used to get little Hanukah gifts for each night but now just get one thing (or nothing). I just bought ShawWife a very nice jacket at a museum in San Diego and pants at a boutique in La Jolla. ShawD wants a Dyson vacuum. ShawSon has no requests (other than getting his funding closed).
I was in the NYC area for work this week and we were finally able to schedule the moving company to pick up our belongings from storage. Long day yesterday (fortunately they did all the physical labor) but our units are empty and everything is on the truck.
It will be chaos when itās delivered but looking forward to having winter coats, warm PJs, furniture to sit on, kitchen items to cook with, etc.
People have been kind and Iāve been wearing a borrowed coat & scarf in the meantime.
Delivery is scheduled for Monday and kids are arriving Friday. Both H and I are working all week. Will see how much we get done before they arrive!
And in other news, last weekend we bought a new washer and dryer. The last time we did this was 31 years ago!
Popping in to say āhello.ā Weāre at the beach, and will be here through New Yearās. Currently more snow here than āup north.ā
Also, S is NOT going to Afghanistan, at least not anytime soon. YAY!!! Definitely did a happy dance when he told me that. Shipped him a box of goodies earlier in the week ā sending to an APO address is sort of like launching things into deep space.
No brilliant ideas for stocking stuffers. Got D & SIL java jackets for all their Dunkin/Starbucks purchases, and some āHappy Socks.ā (Thatās the brand name.) Plus all the usual stuff, including MA lottery tickets. Maybe weāll have a winner!
Seconding the YAY on your S not going to Afganistan @CBBBlinker !
After hosting Thanksgiving, then visiting family in the midwest we are really far behind on Christmas. Both kids are home right now (we attended a wedding last night) and plan to finally decorate our three this morning. I will send D and SIL off with their stocking stuffers as they will be staying in NYC for a quiet holiday.
Good morning. Cheers to new grand baby and CBB son NOT going to Afghanistan.
Just popped in to say hiā¦been distracted with all manner of mechanical failure of lateā¦after the roof came the boiler at our house, then the air warmer on the dome, then this am the pool heater, which given the temps, is a critical repair
Despite the mechanical world gunning for me, Iām ready for Xmas, finished up major dinner party without hiccups, and am feeling mildly festive But I would sure like to have a break from the breakdowns
(I suppose its better that theyāre mechanical than mentalā¦though one may beget the other!)
