Congrats, @ChicagoSportsFn and @Kandcsmom! As another 16/19 parent, I am glad to see so much overlap. I wonder if we’ll be at 633 pages in three years…
I’m a 2016/2019 parent too.
2015/2019 parent here. I have a college freshman and a high school freshman, both having finals this week.
Glad to see a lot of overlap as well. I’ve learned a lot and received a lot of support from 2016 thread. It’s never too soon to start planning and gather support.
Can’t wait for this semester to be over! Just got to get DD through finals…Grades are looking terrific right now…just hope she can see it through to the end!
16/19 (&13) parent here too. Finals for all my kids are at the end of January.
I too am a 13/16/19 parent. What a ride!
I am not trying to one-up anyone, but I am a 13/16/19/21 parent. I will miss all of you when I am alone the fall of 2020–just after our 16ers have graduated.
Holy Cow @EastGrad that’s a lot of tuition!!! I just have my 19…hence the name…poor kid has to shoulder all her parents hopes and dreams
I always tell my friends with one child, @2019hope, that if you achieve perfection on your first try, you don’t need to try again.
So I thought I’d jump on here . I just recently found the thread for high school class of 2016 and figured I would join the one for high school Class of 2019 too.
Interesting you are all talking about finals. Our first semester doesn’t end until the end of January so that is when finals are for my kids. They just got mid quarter reports last week for the 2nd quarter.
The journey with my 2019 son will be quite different from the one we are going through with my 2016 daughter. Right now we are hoping that he gets out of high school with above a 3.0 gpa. He blew off (as in purposefully didn’t finish) two Spanish tests this quarter because he was mad at his basketball coach. Yeah, so 2 F’s, averaged in with the rest of the A’s in the class leaves him sitting with a C. And this isn’t even an honors class. This kid is going to give me grey hair.
Welcome @me29034 . I also have a freshman . Smart like his brother ,but has to work much harder at it. Geometry is kicking his butt, but thankfully it has gotten much better.
Welcome @me29034 !!! I’m so glad we will have seasoned veterans of the “process” to guide us!!!
Fascinated to hear about “finals.” DS’s freshman experience thus far has been lots of big papers (not long, but important to the final grade) and lots of tiny, little quizzes. Semester still has January to go, so perhaps there will be finals, but there certainly were no midterms.
Welcome, @me29034, we have similar kids.
Hi all! @eastgrad I’m right with you…have a 14/16/19/20. So I guess we’ll be reading a lot of each other for a few more years ha!
I really like cake, so that works for me. Welcome to all the folks joining the list. :)>-
Welcome @cakeisgreat !!!
We have a two week break for the holidays, and I’m planning on getting D focused on her science fair project. Grades so far in high school have not been anywhere near stellar, and she’s on this Hamilton kick where I am concerned she wants to become a musical theatre major. #smh
@OrangeFish Lots can change between now and graduation. It will be fun to be able to look back when they graduate. I do feel bad for these kids who have to start worrying about graduation as Freshman. Having a senior now , I’ve learned how to approach things differently than I did with his brother .
Well, she received a D in a class as a 1st quarter grade, and if she does not make satisfactory academic progress she has to leave this school and attend her base school. This could change her course selection options, which need to be submitted at the end of January. I hope she understands the need for attending to her classes as a priority.
