MidYear Report. Does anyone knows when GC uploades it via Common App, how long does it take for colleges to updated on their portal.
As GC just send it this morning as our HS just had MidYear report ready today via Common App and one of the colleges has Midyear Transcript and MidYear Report box and when checked portal Transcript was received and MidYear Report Awaiting.
So called the Admission office and they were like both should have been uploaded same time and since only transcript was uploaded and not the report then they might have problem downloading the report and then have GC email it to them.
So how would we know if they have problem downloading report wouldnāt they send email to GC if they have problem, but I guess is our responsibity to make sure everything gets into the portal. So did anyone had problem something like this and knows when the colleges updates the portal. As also checking few other colleges that required MIdYear report and still missing in the portal.
S20 got accepted to all 7 schools he applied to (one is a likely letter), though he didnāt make Purdue honors college and got to UMD Scholars instead of their Honors College, computer science major at both.
While we are still waiting to see what merit he gets in 2 of those schools, it looks like his mind is made, and he is indeed ready to be at school that isnāt close by. He made a decision a while back, so thatās not new, but only now he started to answer the question āWhere will you go to college?ā with the name of the school instead of āI am considering my options.ā I think that says it all
@Jahm1820 Both my wife and I survived the quarter system back in the 90ās when the University of Minnesota schools were still on it. I have a co-workers daughter who is a Jr at DU and she really enjoys the flexibility the quarter system has.
Yes skiing is a draw for S20, through HS, heās been pretty disciplined, but as we all know that can change. Iād probably be living out of a van right now if I had great skiing that close to school. Positives = no mortgage!!
I was on the quarter system for undergrad and semester for grad school. I loved the quarter system. Things moved quickly and efficiently and, as you mention, it allows a lot of variety and flexibility.
Luckily we will have all the acceptance news in by end of March, but I put āmid-Aprilā as the time Iām waiting on, since thatās when I foresee D20 actually making a final decision (and also when weāll hear about the full-ride scholarship, that yes, sheās def going to try for!).
Does anyone have a child that seems more anxious now that acceptances and aid packages are rolling in? My D20 was wonderful about everything until aid packages slowly started trickling in and now she is very stressed.
She has some good options so you would think she could breathe until she gets the rest of her offers but she seems more worried now. (I think compounding this is that she is a finalist for a scholarship at her top choice school and without it cost will be a concern.) I am at a loss as to how to help her beyond reminding her it will all work out.
DD20 does not seem overly stressed. I, like you, keep saying what is meant to be, will be. She and I have both gotten some push back from peers regarding her optionsāpeers that are less concerned about the total price tagāso if she is more stressed than I realize, my guess is that is the source. I have not told her about the push back I have received since I do not want it to impact her final decision. I am also trying hard to keep any stress I feel, to myself. This community is very helpful in that regard!
@momzilla2D I was just thinking the same! I wonder why these threads (along with admissions decision dates threads) are conspicuously absent this year. Thanks for setting it up.
I think people who attended schools using the quarter system liked quarters, and people who attended schools with semester likeā¦semesters! I think semesters work out better for kids who are looking for summer internships.
What about thoughts on J terms? Several of my Dās schools have them but I can never quite discern if itās mandatory to take a class during J term or if they are optional. Assume it is included in the yearly tuition. Canāt decide if my D would prefer a longer break with her hometown friends or if sheād rather be back at school. She is still deciding between a lot of options so we will look into it further once she narrows down her list.
Semesters vs. Quarters: Iāve got one kid with each. Thereās no advantage for summer internshipsā¦ for paid jobs in small towns where positions are scarce there might be a slight advantage to those who come home early. But summers are the same length regardless.
D20 has almost completely ruled out U Denver for multiple reasons, one of which is the academic calendar. She has been on trimesters throughout HS and wants to not have finals three times per year. I had trimesters in college and preferred it, but itās her choice.
