Many schools award music scholarships to incoming freshmen, but there is usually an audition involved and a commitment to play in a particular school ensemble for the duration of the scholarship. <p>Oberlin is kind of a special case because it has both a conservatory and a college on the same campus. They have all the musical talent they need in the conservatory without having to extend musical talent scholarships to those who are in the college division but not the conservatory.</p>
