A previous post on this forum mentioned a scholarship guide compiled by a former student in his college scholarship quest. His research resulted in scholarship offers in excess of $350,000 for his college career. The book retails for around $70. Can anyone give me the title and/or author of this particular guide or one similar? Thanks!

There are a lot of books like that out there–check out Amazon–all making this sort of claim (and not for $70–yikes!), but keep in mind that a tippy top student applying to ten second tier schools that award big merit scholarships could easily accumulate $350,000 in scholarships offers. The trick is getting enough money to attend a school you want to attend. As has been stated here many, many times, beyond qualifying for Gates and other like scholarships for the extraordinary student, the best source of merit awards is the college you apply to, and making up a list of appealing colleges that are likely to offer you big merit takes old fashioned research.
