I am a senior applying regular to Lehigh. I am not apart of the party scene at my high school. With Lehigh being known as a school with a relatively large party scene what is it like to matriculate having never been to a crazy party before?
Hi, I’m a current Lehigh student.
When I entered Lehigh, I was not a part of the party scene in high school. Furthermore, I am not really part of the party scene at Lehigh now.
As you already know, Lehigh does have a certain reputation for its large party/weekend culture. The fact of the matter is, however, that you never really know what you are going to be involved in until you actually get here. I know plenty of people who never partied in high school but are big on it at Lehigh, and vice versa.
I know, from experience, that entering an environment with a large party scene as a non-partier can be intimidating. Please realize that if partying is not for you, there is a significant population of students here that feel the same way. There may be less than them when compared to those who enjoy frequenting parties, but they certainly exist, and it is important that you connect with them.
If you are confident that you do not want to be around big partiers, I highly recommend that, if you were to be accepted, you sign up for Choice Housing. Choice dorms are specifically set aside to house those who do not party/drink. While some students in Choice dorms do go out and party, the majority of them don’t, and the atmosphere within the dorm is tame in comparison to the other dorms.
If you decide that you do want to be a part of the party scene, that is okay too. There will be plenty of entertainment here for you, but remember to do everything in moderation.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
