Party scene outside of greek life?

Does it exist? Or can independent males at least get into greek parties?

It’s pretty hard to come by regular parties outside of Greek life, as far as I know. The ones that do happen are totally different than Greek parties.

Independent males can get into Greek parties if you know brothers and/or bring girls with you. It’s pretty easy to get in at the beginning of the year cause a lot of guys are rushing and aren’t expected to yet. As the semester goes on, brothers will start asking for names of who you know at the door and turning guys away. If some of your good friends go Greek, they can get you in.

You might as well just rush the first semester to get a feel for Greek life, meet new people, and get into parties.

Yes, you can definitely have a good social life. However, I would recommend doing rush regardless - because it will give you the chance to meet friends in each fraternity.

Second, there are always parties in Tower Suites/Mayfields/etc.

And lastly, you are in Nashville - lots of fun bars/clubs downtown.

The parties at Towers/Mayfields are just totally unlike Greek parties. I’m not saying one is better than the other, they’re just totally different categories of parties. Towers/Mayfield parties are more just people just hanging out together and drinking. Greek parties consist of tons of drunk people packed into a big dark room and grinding to loud house music/strobe lights (actually a little more fun than it sounds).

Also, dont forget Vanderbilt sponsers tons of music, events, not to mention D-1 sports (football tailgates, going to basketball games, etc)
