I was part of it before the board shifted to subchat.com. I think the maintainer of one of the more complete maps out there works at AcIS. He has a site somewhere on the columbia servers.

Yea, sorry for that. I forgot that they closed that about a year and a half ago. I drive so i haven't taken the subway since freshman year. Again I apologize.

Back on topic: as you can tell, we're all a bunch of party animals here.

Actually, there was a huge, columbia-sponsored party in Lerner tonight, with free beer for those of age. At least a third of the campus was there watching the dance performances, that is, those who weren't down in the cocktail lounge space, in at the climbing wall, grabbing food, or up in the poker tournament. They had so many people in lerner that they had to stop letting people in because of fire safety. and lerner's a big effing place.

Shraf... $300 prize pool among 60 entrants... you got $5 of playing for free.

Did you see how Hannah finished? She was the chick next to Sam at the table with Joe and Anthony. Black hair. She's pretty good, I'll probably invite her to the weekly $40 game I play in midtown.

Why wouldn't NYPD have authority over columbia's campus? Columbia isn't its own sovereign state :-P . Actually does columbia have their own armed police force (not be confused with security guards)?

no, they're not armed. they're rent-a-cops who act like actual cops and exist to deny rational things like "look, I don't care if you can't see the picture, it's obviously my ID, it swipes, why can't I go in?". i've had run-ins with them before, to be honest, but in serious situations about the only thing they can do is call for an ambulance or call the NYPD.

the point denz made is oddly accurate. the only times i've been questioned or friends have been questioned by cu security has been in regards to showing id. including, being challenged when "it swipes. i have 24-hour access to this building. i don't care what day it is. there's a reason i have 24-hour swipe and i need to be here right now."

also, what's this about a red stripe meaning 21+? i've had a red stripe on my id since the tender age of 19.
