I have a learning disability so learning a foreign language is really hard for me. The class was REALLY stressing me out because my grade was most likely going to be C+ or B-. I opted to take the class Pass/fail. was this a mistake? Will no schools accept me because of this.
I am not sure if you are looking at highschools or colleges…I’m sorry to hear you are so stressed.
If highschool, of course a school will take you. Will it be Groton where kids take TWO languages? Nope. Or Andover where they also have a language requirement? Maybe not. There are MANY schools which will take a kid who isn’t strong at foreign languages. (I personally know two dyslexic kids who got into solid BS this past year).
@one1ofeach SPS is my top choice. I go to a really hard independent school already (I’m already high school applying to transfer to BS). If all my grades are As will the pass/fail be a deal-breaker?
It probably will not be a deal-breaker, but you will likely need to complete the foreign language requirement at any school you transfer to, if accepted, and P/F won’t be an option.
@skieurope I have a language waiver but I chose to take the class P/F because I still wanted to take a language but without the added stress of my grades. Should I explain this to schools or only tell them if they ask?
May not apply to your new school or to any college with a foreign language requirement.
The school should explain it, if needed, not you.
