Hey all, I'm looking to apply to transfer to UCLA, USC, or Berk next fall. Right now I'm at another UC. I currently have a 3.71 and am planning to apply for Econ. This quarter I'm taking an Astronomy class and I don't think I did well on the midterm. I'm probably going to get a B in the class, so my PREDICTED grades for Spring Quarter are A, A, A, B+/-. Should I take this class Pass/no-pass? How does that look to UCLA etc.?

i don't think it should matter too much.. i pass / no passed a geography class because i was getting a b..

what uc do you go to?

Davis

Hobo...have you gotten into UCLA? Congrats if you have. Are you also from another UC?

nope ucla is still pending.. i go to ucr.

P is usually viewed as a C. I'd rather get the B if I were you...but if this is just for IGETC (which I assume, because I don't think you need it for Economics), I guess that's fine, too.

I'm not doing IGETC, I go to UCD. So is P/NP looked at as a C?

Thanks everyone for all your help. I'm trippin' right now because I have two days to decide what grade mode I want. Thanks you all!

supposedly.. idon 't think it should matter though... i'm thking of pass/ no passing my english class because i don't want to try and i think im going to get a B.

Oh, what I meant is that it's to fulfill your GE...not your major requirements. A P/NP can't hurt you, since it won't count in calculating your GPA, but it IS seen as though you did poorly. It's up to you.

i'd take the B...at least with a B u earned an 'above average' grade...but with just a pass...they have no clue how hard u tried in the class.

If I do take the B though, my GPA goes from 3.71 to 3.74, if I take it P/NP, it doesn't get counted toward my GPA. My GPA goes from 3.71 to 3.79

The 3.79 looks really appealing.

its a simple question. just ask a school official who would know. talk to a counselor or something.

dude.
a 3.74 and a 3.79

are basically the same thing.

if you kept it up, i'd say you are a shoe-in for UCLA and even at Berkeley.
