Pass or No Pass

Is there any class that you guys suggest to take with pass or no pass? And btw is it easy to get a solid A in Music15 beatles?

Music classes are generally pretty easy if you have any interest in it at all.

I messed up and took Music 1C P/NP and ended up with an A+ percentage that will haunt me forever as a P. Don’t ask me why I did it. I still don’t know.

Thanks for posting this thread, I was concerned too.

Take GEs pass/no pass that are completely unrelated to your major. For example, I took my “math” class P/NP.

you also have a couple weeks to change your grading options if you want it P/NP so take it for letter grade and see how things are going, if you dont think you can pull off an A then just change the grading option

Yeah I’m taking Spanish as P/NP

I’m a CSE major. Should I take linear algebra as P/NP?

Is there a limit as to ohw many classes we can take P/NP?

^^^I think it is like 25% of your entire UC classes or credits. It is actually mentioned in your “Degree Audit”

I am under the impression that any classes required for your major CANNOT be taken P/NP.

torreypines you are correct

Physalis,

NO, math is an “integral” part of CS. But if you suck at it, or aren’t going to grad school, do w.e you want.

And it has to be 25% or LESS of your classes…

Based on credits, or based on total number of classes taken?

so taking pass/no pass classes wont affect gpa at all? would those no pass classes hurt when applying to grad schools?

grad schools consider PASS as a C. Don’t do P/NP unless they are GEs that you are completely uncomfortable with. If not, just ace them, get a good GPA, and go to a good grad school. Think of GEs as GPA boosters.

^May not apply to everyone. I’m the complete opposite. I think of my bio/chem/major classes as the GPA boosters while the random ethnics and humanity classes (GE’s) will hurt my GPA.

P/NP FTW
