Passionate about Disney...?

Hi! I’m 17. At this age, my friends are passionate about an activity like dancing, writing, soccer, etc. Sounds kind of silly, but I’m passionate about Disney and the values it aims to instill in its audience (optimism, imagination, creativity, etc.). The company’s philosophy has genuinely helped me improve my life. I know the inner workings of the company aren’t always what they appear, but neither that nor what I do matters – if I could inspire someone else with ‘Disney magic’, I would feel fulfilled.

Even though it’s not practical to aim only for Disney, that’s the only future I can envision myself in. Attempts to broaden my horizon haven’t worked, and I just find myself missing my dream of working at Disney.

Any advice? College is approaching soon, and I’d like to have a better grasp on my future.
THANKS! :)

Can you produce your own Disney-like short film? That might help getting you into the best film schools, and from there, you can follow the signs to Disneyworld.

Disney, really? Not only a deeply corrupt company but also one that instills sexism and set gender roles in children at such a young age.

But if it’s what you want to do, I suggest not working specifically to it, but to a position where you’ll be able to get a job there. Similar to not working towards getting into a specific college, because it may leave you with few other options, but also with a very narrow skill set. Instead making yourself the best candidate to any college of that calibre possible, will give you better options and maybe even a higher likelihood of getting in.

I don’t have too much to add (except for the Disney college internship program), but I just wanted to say that my family is the exact same way. We’ve stayed down there every summer since I was one year old. As far as corporations go, it would be an amazing one to work for.

And I totally disagree with Ukgirl. I think that’s unfounded.
