My impression from all the info I have read leads me to believe that during the week we will have free time once classes are over for the day, and on weekends there will be activities that we can participate in (such as water rafting). As for the work out of class it is supposed to be somewhere between a high-school hw load, and a college one. (High school being 1-2 hours long and College being 4+)

I went to PAVE last year (and really liked it! ), so I could answer questions if anyone wants to ask.

After about 4 or 5 p.m. on weekdays, you’re usually free to do whatever you want. I took a lot of walks around the area with friends, and went to restaurants, and visited downtown Nashville a few times. It was especially fun to watch the fireworks there on the 4th of July! There are also a lot of people who just stay in the dorms and hang around the basement. There’s this one awesome room full of huge bean bags, and people had movie nights or parties in there.

On weekends there are scheduled field trip activities, like water parks or paintball or watching a baseball game, but you’re not required to go. If you do go, you have to pay somewhere between $15 and $50 for the trip.

As for homework… I think RDRFan is right about it being between high school and college. Every night there is some kind of math or physics homework, and sometimes homework from a science or humanities elective. Those two aren’t too bad, but there is often computer homework that is harder and takes longer. Plus, the science research papers are what really give you a lot of work. You have to do one every other week, so three times total, and they usually end up being like ten pages long. I’ve seen people pull all-nighters to finish those the night before they’re due. Personally, the latest I stayed up at PAVE was 4 a.m. I need at least an hour of sleep to function the next day, lol.

Just bumping the thread.

I just heard back a couple days ago and found out I was waitlisted does anyone know what the chances are for getting into the program from the waitlist?

It probably just depends on the chances that somebody can’t go for whatever reason.

What did you guys write for your letter (why you want to attend PAVE)?

Yeah but has anyone from previous years gotten into the program from the waitlist?

A quick look at past PAVE threads show a few people who did get in off the waitlist, so hope is not lost!

Hi I’m going to PAVE this summer! I’m so excited! I got accepted back in November I think… but I’m so excited and I joined the Facebook group! I can’t wait to meet everyone! I’ve never been to the south before! I’m so stoked :D

Just found this! I’ll also be attending PAVE this summer. How many of you are bringing your vehicles?

Salutations, fellow PAVE students. Looking foward to this June. Just in case you’re interested, Peacocks14 has created a Facebook page for PAVE students to join. Check it out here: <a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up; We have less than 10 members there at the moment so we’re kind of lonely.

Mormreed, I highly doubt anyone will bring a vehicle unless they have a place to stay 30 minutes or less away from campus. I’ll go off on a limb and say most program attendees will be from outside Nashville, so no quick commutes for them. Even if I did live 10 minutes from campus, I’d probably still sleep in a dorm. It’s part of the experience, you know?

Well, I signed up to bring my vehicle simply because I was told whenever we have down time, we are allowed to go roam Nashville. I’d much rather travel in a car! Also, I was told we could go home on weekends we have something to do at home, so long as we are back in time for classes!

Well, suit yourself I suppose. I think I’d prefer to walk around Nashville though. Do you live close to Vanderbilt or something?

Oh! If a PAVE alum would be so kind as to answer this question very important to me. Can any of you alums describe the food situation? Like will we be able to go to the cafeteria, cook our own food, etc. Thanks!

My sister went to PAVE few years ago and said that they could eat at the main campus dining hall Rand and the hospital cafeteria, but someone that went last year posted that they had to go to the commons because Rand was being renovated. She said there was a communal kitchen in the dorm, but nobody ever really used it.

Hey! I’m applying this year… and since PAVE is rolling admissions, I was wondering when you guys sent in your applications. (My main concern is that I’m sending it in too late since I’m waiting for my PSAT 2014 scores)
Thanks! And if you guys don’t mind, stats?
