paying for college

looking at my college predicted cost, it comes to 15,000 a year including tuition, rent, board and transport, etc... therefore, i would have 60,000 in debt once i graduate. is having 60,000 in debt normal?? Am i calculating my total wrong?

Are your parents willing to contribute towards your college expenses?

$60,000 is more debt than a college graduate should have. (The average indebtedness of graduates of public universities in 2003 was about $15,000; it is likely higher now, but still well below $60,000.)

is this after financial aid?

^ no 15,000 a year is just the colleges estimate of the total cost per year(tuituion and board andliving expenses)

Usually, you would have at most about half that. Apply for financial aid and scholarships, so that you don't have to just pay 60,000 with loans. Unless you go into something like science or engineering, it's going to take a LOOOOONG time to pay off that much.

You should get aid in the form of grants and scholarships to cover a lot of that.

I'm in the same prediciment. I'm just waiting for my parents to complete the fafsa and work on getting a lot of scholarships to lessen the cost. And if you have a job throughout college it will lessen the cost while you are in school.

how much do you guys pay for college??!!? if you think hes dumb spending 15,000 a year, i wonder what you guys pay for private school..
