If we wish to pay the interest on our DS's unsubsidized loans while he is in school, how do we do that? Will they send us some kind of bill? Is there some kind of account I can look at online and pay them online?

Would prefer not to have the interest just tacked onto the principle for him to pay when he gets out of school.

Thanks!

Call the financial aid department at the school and tell them you want to make interest payments while your child is in school. There’s an in school deferment form that’s pretty standard and on this form there’s an option to check off that signifies you want to make interest payments.

We plan on doing the same thing. His loans disbursed on August 26th and I have been wondering how long it will be before he hears from his loan servicer. He is going to give us access to his account so we can set it up. I thought we could just handle it through his servicer? Did not know we had to involve the school.

Thanks for the help!

Contacted the Finaid office and they told me to contact the agency servicing the loan and arrange to make payments through them.
