I know we have to give the housing deposit and tuition deposit by May 1st.
What’s the system for paying the rest of the tuition? By when do you have to do it? And are there any installment plans?

Tuition, fees, room and board are billed for each term. The charges are posted to the account and anticipated financial aid such as grants and loans (but not work study) is subtracted. Payment for the balance is due by September 1, January 1 and April 1.
NU’s online system is called Caesar. That’s where you see the statement and make an e-payment from a bank account. You can also mail a check. There’s no extra fee for e-payment or check. You can use a credit card, but there is a 2.75% fee. The bill can be paid from the student’s Caesar account, or the student can create guest access for the parent or other person who actually pays the bills. There is also a system to make payments from international bank accounts, if that applies.
There is an installment plan called 9Pay that splits the payments into 9 installments instead of 3. I’ve never used it, because it does not delay the payments. For example, the fall term installments for 9 pay are due in July, August and September. I just paid the total amount directly to the school on September 1. There is a fee to use 9pay.
Northwestern has a lot of info on their website for parents, including all of the info above. Go to www.northwestern.edu and look for the “parents and families” section, then look for the “Billing and Payments” link near the bottom. Both student and family will get a lot of detailed info and instructions from NU after the student pays the deposit.
Thank you!
