<p>If I want to get a laptop for college, should I get a PC or Mac? I know the majority of you are PC users but the Macbooks look sophisticated and so cool..especially the glossy white surface.. :P</p>
<p>I had a pC, switched to a mac. But to tell you the truth, I´d say stick to PC. I´m about to switch back to PC because a couple of math programs I need to run are only for windows. Plus, I hate not being able to use a copy I have of pro tools.</p>

<p>Buy a MacBook (or Pro, or Air), and then install Windows on it through Boot Camp. You're set!</p>
<p>if you don't like Mac OS, then do your stuff in Windows, and you'll still have an aesthetically beautiful machine. If some of your programs won't run on Leopard, then boot into Vista/XP and install it on there. You get the best of both worlds.</p>
<p>PC for me... Macs look all the same. On the other hand, PC laptops all depend on the manufacturer and user customization to make it better (that is if you can do it yourself). </p>
<p>Also, Macs are overpriced like crazy on a basic hardware to hardware basis. There are many PCs with better specs but for far cheaper. Also, many games run exclusively on PC so that's a major turn down for me. </p>
<p>For good Laptop prices, checkout the Cyberpower PC site. Costco is also good... </p>
<p>Vista sucks for sure, but XP still exists if you want it... :)</p>
<p>I have an iMac. I like it. When I go off to college though, I'll probably buy a Windows laptop.</p>

<p>It really depends on your school and major. I'd check your college's website and see what they recommend.</p>
<p>More extensive computer progamming usually goes with Windows. True, Mac can run Windows, but if you aren't going to use the Mac OS then why buy one?</p>
<p>Otherwise, I'd go with a Mac. Easy operating system that is perfect for college students. Classic look.</p>
<p>MACS. They are more reliable, easier to use, and the most college friendly computer out there (some colleges are literally giving them to their students). I've used macs for.... wow 8+ years (probably as long as I have been using a computer). They are just the best.</p>
<p>P.C.'s for compatibility. And I guess Mac's obnoxious commercials trying to fit itself into the "trend" turned me off a little.</p>
<p>Everything you can do on a PC, you can do on a Mac. Even if the software is Windows-only, just install Bootcamp on your Mac and bam, your Mac can now act like Windows PC when you want it to.</p>

<p>I had a couple of bad experiences with the iMac in elementary school, so it's PCs for me. I heard that Windows Vista really sucks, though, so I think I my switch to a Mac when I get a laptop for college.</p>
<p>Macs are pretty obnoxious, but I love mine. They are painfully hip.</p>
<p>But I'm not opposed to using a PC. I'm not a mac elitist.</p>
<p>For me, the main issue was price. I was able to get a Dell laptop with Vista Basic for $400 shipped. A Mac with similar specs would have cost well over $1000. </p>
<p>Macs definitely have the style factor going for them and are apparently easier to work with than PCs. What you have to decide is whether a marginal increase in function or form is worth the disparity in price.</p>
<p>And yes, Vista sucks. Stick with XP if you can.</p>
<p>Macbooks own. They are so easy to use and are really nice. This may not be a very important factor, but I LOVE how you can put two fingers on the mouse pad and scroll down without having to click or anything! =)</p>

<p>These threads are just so pointless and are becoming a tad annoying. Both pc's and mac's have their sets of faults, its all down to you as a person to choose which one you like!!!!!</p>
<p>I had this debate in my head early february... settled on the mac and i couldn't be happier. everything works, no crashes, hard to believe but it's true! i'm not a windows hater by any means but i settled on the mac because i believe itwill lastlonger.. and not be outdated as quickly. this was important because they are expensive, and i hope to use it for most of college.</p>
