do we get a letter grade for PE? how are we graded? attendance only?

From what I've heard/read it's just pass/fail, and we are only graded on attendance.

That's right. Also, you can miss up to six PE classes per semester.

kinda personal but.. would... "that time of the month" be a valid excuse to miss a swim class ?

Given that you get 6 absences, you could just skip class during those times.

I'm not a swimming expert, but what do the olympic athletes do about this? Surely some of the women competitors are experiencing such during competitive events?

you can tampons to go still but not on the first few days, (but I don't like using internal products), or go on med to stop it from happening at certain times (aka competition dates). also.. not very feasible for students.

but do realize that alot of female athletes do not have normal hormone balance. and skipping those isnt exactly abnormal for athletes.

I'm sure the instructors are sympathetic and have faced such issues before. Just ask them after the first class what is usually done about it.

Or, you know, don't take swimming. The karate instructor is really phenomenal, I liked her a lot.
