Peddie called 9 days before their decision date....

Hi, I was wondering if any other students had gotten a call like this even from other private schools. Why would they call? Am I a possible waitlister? I’d appreciate a quick reply, thanks!

Did you pick up the call? They could be calling for several reasons. They could be asking for more information regarding extracurricular activities, they could also be missing some part of the application. They could also be asking you to change the grade you are applying to ex: changing from 10th grade applicant to repeat 9th. If you are applying for financial aid they may also be calling to confirm specific information or they are in need of a specific form. Another possibility that is usually for legacies or siblings of students who already attend a school to receive a call if they are waitlisted or denied. This typically only happens for people who have close relations with the school. There are COUNTLESS reasons why they might have called, but you will only know if you call them back.

We did pick it up, and they said that they had some more questions. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I am not related with anyone at school, and am not applying for financial aid.

Thank you for your reply @CC4life

@applicntpschool3 I would say that is a good sign, because typically if you were rejected or waitlisted they would not have called. In fact, I recently checked Peddie’s website and they offer merit scholarships. If I were to guess…and this is just a guess…they could be considering you for a merit scholarship as this has happened in the past where schools will contact you for more info or to ask questions before putting an applicant on the short list for the scholarships and making a final decision towards the end of decision deliberations. Good luck! and make sure to comment on the prep school decisions thread with your results on M9.

Thank you!

another (and slightly less optimistic sorry lol) perspective is that you may be on the fence as a admit/waitlist. However, it does not sound like you were rejected so I VERY carefully congratulate you on that at least!!

What kind of questions did they ask??

Does anyone know how to close this discussion? Thanks!

Yes.You can’t.

My son received a phone call almost 8 pm on Friday that FA question for my son’s application.
In order to grant FA both parents have to work and Officer asked “why is your mom not working?” son said to her “She is sick” and officer asked again that “is your mom go back to work if she is recovered in the future?” He said of course.
Feels something but I will see what happen this Sat. Good luck everyone.
