peer evaluation

Anyone who knows you well can write it.

Can you send TWO peer evals?

^^Will someone please reply to that?
Thanks :)

I didn’t send two peer evaluations. I don’t know anyone who did. Like most colleges, Dartmouth tends to discourage superfluous application materials.

That said, if you think another peer recommendation will add a new dimension to your application (i.e. not a needless repetition of what is already there, but an unperceived expansion), then I think you should send in two.

My friend who’s writing my PE is done with it but according to her, it’s too informal and sounds more like a birthday card. And she needs some example she can judge her writing against. So (like others before me), I’d like to request anyone here who has the experience to please PM me their PE if they can. I’ll be very grateful :)

^I’d be glad to have one as well, as you find no sample peer evalutation anywhere. I have to write one for my friend.

is it ok to send in two peer evaluations? because dartmouth’s website states:

" Can I and should I submit additional letters of recommendation, beyond the required 2 teacher recs, peer eval, and counselor rec?

Can you? Yes. Should you? Depends.
You may submit additional recommendations and we will consider them as we review your file. However, additional recommendations should be submitted only if they will add new and relevant information to our understanding of you.
If you are considering submitting additional recommendations, they should only come from individuals who know you in different and meaningful ways from your other recommendation-writers. There is a difference between a helpful recommendation and a positive recommendation. Essentially every recommendation we receive is positive; however, often times extra recs may not be helpful because they only reiterate points we already know."

But the issues it that dartmouth uses the world “recommendations” not “evalutions.” So i’m assuming they’re talking about additional recommendations that are not from a teacher and from some other adult mentor? I wanted to send in two peer recommendations because one person i know understands me on a coworker/professional level while the other peer knows me on a personal level so I thought it would show a varied perspective?

What do you guys think, would it be bad if i sent in two peer evaluations?

I think that would be fine if they truly demonstrate distinctly different facets of your personality.

Do they need to receive the rec letter by Jan 1 or does it just need to be postmarked by then? Also, my Dartmouth app tracker says they have received all necessary materials to begin evaluating my application, but I never sent in a peer rec letter… strange? Thanks!!!

I just saw on the website that you can email the peer rec letter, so I guess my postmarking question isn’t really an issue!

person123456789, on the website Dartmouth indicates that they will read an application even if the Peer Evaluation has not yet arrived.

There were 2 peer evaluations for my D1. One friend seemed to flake, so at the last minute my D1 asked another friend to complete the form. Later we learned that the first friend had followed through after all. Despite the mix-up, D1 was accepted ED anyway.

Wait, email?!?!?! We can email them?!

From a Dartmouth blog:
Your recommender can "submit a Peer Evaluation is by emailing an attached PDF version of a completed evaluation to Admissions.Office@Dartmouth.edu with “Peer Eval” in the Subject line of the email.

this is a super common request but could anyone PM me an example of a good peer evaluation? writing this is actually more nerve-wracking than my own application. thanks!

It’s actually to Admissions.Processing@Dartmouth.edu/email.

I got this information from the Dartmouth site directly:
[Submit Material](<a href=“Home | Dartmouth Admissions”>Home | Dartmouth Admissions)

So… basically, as long as they postmark it before the New Year, it’s all good?

Oh crap, I had my friend send it to Admissions.Office@Dartmouth.edu. That should be okay, right?

If it bounces back – some people on the Dartmouth Direct facebook page say that they received an automatic response about an email no longer being functional – wouldn’t hurt to go to any/all addresses! Apologies for any confusion.

roughly how long should a peer evaluation be?

What happens if our peer evaluation hasn’t been submitted yet? My friend hasn’t finished mine yet…
