Peking University Summer Abroad?

I'm currently a sophomore considering studying abroad in China this upcoming summer. Ideally, I would go to Peking, Fudan or Tsinghua University. I'm thinking of just applying directly to their summer abroad program rather than spending several thousand more dollars and applying through another program (i.e. CIEE). Does anyone know how competitive these direct programs are? They don't ask for references or anything, just a transcript so I'm concerned that since my GPA isn't exactly a 4.0, I would be at a disadvantage.

Also, because I plan to graduate in three years, that means that this upcoming summer will be the last before I graduate and have to start looking for jobs. So I've been having a difficult time deciding if I should just not study abroad and get an internship instead. I have a good history of internships already and I really want to study abroad since I won't get much of a chance once I graduate but I know experience is crucial... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Can you please tell me how long, and what kind of visa did you need?

happytummy:
I think student visa and it is very easy to get.

Persuasion:
Someone told me Fudan send out many scholarship to improve their summer program’s diversity and hope it is still true.
You are smart to apply directly to save money!
