Pellissippi to UT

I heard from someone that if I went to Pellissippi Community for two years and did well enough then UTK would automatically accept me into the college. Can someone confirm? That’d be nice considering my GPA is a lil bit lower than UTK might want.

Are you currently attending PSCC?

Well, when Tennessee gave me back the decision they put me in the Volunteer Bridge Program. This means that I stay on UT campus and as a student while taking classes at Pellissippi for one year. However, even if they reject you, you can go to PSCC and transfer anywhere after 2 years if you have good enough grades.

I’m gonna attend PSCC beginning this fall cause is a lot cheaper the only thing that i am struggling with is the housing, apartments close to campus are ridiculously expensive so i will probably live at Evolve or somewhere like that, what i want to know is if you know how to get to Pelli using public transportation or if i will have to take an Uber every time i go to class.
Thank you and good luck!

My DD currently attends Pellissippi with an intention to transfer to UTK. The University of Tennessee does have a fairly recent memorandum of understanding with Pellissippi (see: http://www.pstcc.edu/advising/_files/pdf/transfer/utk/MOU-UTK-TBR.pdf). Essentially, if a student completes an AA or AS degree at Pellissippi with a 3.0 GPA or better, UT will automatically admit them. Note that this does NOT guarantee admission to the student’s desired department. Some of the majors are competitive, especially things like nursing and engineering/computer science. So, you could get accepted to UT but not your major. At this time, UTK also has an automatic $1500 per year transfer scholarship for those transferring in with an AA or AS degree.

I would contact Pellissippi directly and ask about possible public transit. The main public transit in the Knoxville area is the bus system, which you can find at www.katbus.com. It does not look to me like they serve the Pellissippi campus. Your best bet may be to find housing close enough to bike to campus. I can’t imagine a twice daily taxi service would be very affordable.

Finally, the transfer coordinator at the University of Tennessee Knoxville for Pellissippi students is Sarah Hopper. She can answer questions you have about transferring from Pellissippi to UTK. Her phone number is 865-974-2184 and email is shopper@utk.edu.

Best of luck to all of you.
