Pending internship on resume?

I have an internship with Merrill Lynch during the spring semester, so I haven't started yet. I'm currently looking for internships for the summer and I was wondering what they would think if I put the Merrill Lynch internship down on my resume and put (pending) or something. I don't have much other experience of sprinkles to my resume so far so this Merrill Lynch internship would carry a lot of weight for me right now. I'm a sophomore btw. What do you guys think about this? Would they think I'm foolish?

Don’t put it on your resume. If you had a good enough resume to be interviewed by ML, why wouldn’t you have a good enough resume to get an interview with this other company?

Really though, use common sense. When you edit your work experience category on a resume you include responsibilities you had. You generally tend to edit them to reflect things that would help at this new place. So if you put down “Pending” next to an internship are you also going to put pending next to job responsibilities?

Save it for the interview. I’d throw your resume away if I read “Pending” next to a job.

I had this exact same situation when I was drafting my resume for grad school.

My school’s career center and professors both agreed that the future position should be excluded from the resume, as it does not reflect your work capabilities … yet.

It’s harsh but I would leave it off the resume. I wanted to include mine as well to showcase that I was able to get an internship, but truthfully it doesn’t seem like it helps.
