Hi everyone.

I have a question that's been bothering me since I started the Penn F.A. Supplement. I've completed everything except for this question

"4. List the amounts you expect to contribute toward your educational and living expenses for 2012-2013 from these sources. Do not include anticipated financial aid."

How do I exactly know how much I can expect to contribute towards my educational/living expenses? Am I supposed to use the EFC from FAFSA? Or is there something else I use to calculate?

I believe it’s more of a personal question. I know one of the questions asks about summer income contributions, and I just said $500 to be conservative and safe. All your choice; but unless you have no personal (student) money at all, don’t put 0.

Hm… I’m still confused, though. Is there a % that you should type down?

Hypothetically, say your parents had $10,000 in assets. Would you say you could afford $500, $1000, or $100?

I’m not sure how I’d answer this question, and I’m sure my parents wouldn’t either, because they’d want something definite.

I’m not sure either. I just know that one of the questions on the CSS Profile and I think on the Penn Fin Aid Form asks about summer income contributions, and giving 0 is not a good answer (not practical unless your financial situation qualifies you to give 0).
