Penn State DECISION THREAD ONLY - CLASS OF 2026

Ugh I’m assuming that is what happened to me too. I wish they would’ve warned us about that prior to admissions.

When did your test score get sent? The school received the scores by Nov 2nd. That should not push the admission cycle to that extent.

If the file was not complete by Nov 1, it is no longer considered early action. That means SRAR, test scores, etc. Nov 2 is late

I just reread their admission requirements, and the next cycle was Dec 1st deadline. Decisions should come out in January per website.

@Casba do you have a link to share that info?

My test score was sent on November 7th. I emailed admissions back in October and asked if it would be ok for me to submit my SAT score one week late, because I was taking an SAT in late October and would not have my score back by Nov 1. They said that it was ok, but i guess not :frowning: i only have to wait until jan 31 now for my decision so its not too bad

My daughter was accepted in December and when she opened her portal today, it says that her application record is being updated. Does anyone know what that could mean?

Maybe some additional info is being added like scholarships

Sorry, just saw this reply. It’s on the website. But here’s the calendar on their website.

D accepted summer start @ UP. 3.9 GPA OOS (NJ) varsity soccer, travel soccer captain, National Honor Society, plenty of EC, and work experience. Applied test-optional (1260). We thought about appealing the summer start but she has also been accepted to PITT, Loyola-MD, UNH, JMU, and Fairfield. So we have other options. Just wanted to post here that not everyone is getting in PSU Fall at UP. It’s super competitive this year. Good luck to all

My daughter applied for early action and did not hear anything in December. We called and her supplement transcript (or something like that) was a week or two late so she was bummed to regular decision. It’s a bummer, Since that info is in her Common app, other areas. So we wait until 1/31. Penn State will be OOS, so the cost is a concern for us. Other college decisions will be released in the next couple of weeks also. So an exciting and anxious time! Good luck to all others!

This happened to my daughter as well. The SRAR was completely filled out on the Coalition APP. Penn State downloaded the application. When she saw the SRAR on Penn State’s portal she assumed they downloaded that information since it was the only school she applied to that required her to fill it out on the Coalition application in the first place. They told her she would not be considered for an EA since she didn’t fill it out before the deadline (she did on the app, just not on their portal).
I don’t know why they use the outside portals and require the SRAR BEFORE pressing submit, but then don’t take that as a SRAR. Makes zero sense.

My son found out today through mail that he was accepted to Penn State EA. Think that means there are phases of acceptances. 3.8 GPA, Test optional, Eagle Scout, lots of ECs, Sociology major

@KSB2019 @BTMSC98 bummer to hear.

thanks for coming back and updating why they didn’t hear. Don’t know if I agree with it, but at least it is an explanation.

Congrats! Did he hear through snail mail instead of through his portal?

Congratulations! I think Penn State values Eagle Scouts. This is the 3rd or 4th post where I see reference to ES of an admitted student. Kudos! Hardwork of the scout and the supportive parents pays off, finally.

We received an acceptance letter in the mail today. She checked portal last week with no info. Today we got the envelope with “Congratulations!” on it! The portal is updated now. We never received an email.

Congrats to others, also! We are out of state Midwest and just got the envelope. I see that someone receive acceptance via snail mail about 4 days ago. Maybe it’s making its way west?

She can ask for reconsideration, DUS (same courses as the business premajors, sole difference she would have a regular adviser rather than a Smeal adviser.) If you can afford it, she can ask for summer reconsideration instead of DUS, or both.
