Sorry for the eye-popping title, but nobody had a response to this yet (and the rumors seem sketchy), but it WOULD be a significant change, so can someone update me on this?
Thanks. Also, any other information on program changes for the incoming class of 2015?

Wouldn’t shock me considering that more subjects are being added to the MCAT: Biochemistry, etc.

I wouldn’t be surprised because of the new MCAT.

I’m in the Villanova-Drexel BS/MD program. In the past, some people complained that villanova had too many core classes such as psychology, sociology, philosophy, ethics etc… Now that the new MCAT recommends these classes, it’s a perfect fit. So if you’re looking for a program that has a structured set of courses that is already quite well structured and experienced for the new MCAT, I would recommend considering Villanova’s 7 year med program with drexel.

Here is a sample schedule. Some slight modifications may be necessary though to add biochem.

@MrInformed …Thanks for sharing this. How good are the chances of scholarship for UG portion of Villanova/Drexel pgm? How good are residency opportunities for Drexel MD?

scholarship money is fairly limited, but they do provide a lot of grants for students who need fin aid. I would also recommend that you apply for the presidential scholars program in conjunction with the 7 year bs/md program. the scholars program gives full tution, but there is a separate interview/essay process. Had I known about this program, I would’ve applied as the caliber of students who are accepted into the presidential honors program is comparable to the students in the bs/md program.

Thank you @MrInformed

@polymathy, you are absolutely correct. Penn State’s program with Jefferson is no longer 6 years in length. The students who got in this past March will be the last class to have the 6 year option.
