Penn State knocks UF out of No. 1 party school spot

Guess we're not the No. 1 party school anymore lol

The Associated Press: Penn St. takes top party school title in survey

They were actually in the top 5 for quite a while. It’s just doesn’t make any sense because last year, we won the football National title.

At Preview, they actually had slides that acted as proof that UF was NOT a party school. While I don’t think UF is any worse than a lot of schools are now, it really was funny to see how offended they were that they had that designation. They certainly have clamped down on things since the “old days” when I was there and I guess as a parent of an incoming freshman, I have to say I am glad. When I was there, the drinking age was 18 and they enforced no rules at all. People drank in public, drove drunk and did pretty much whatever they wanted. Very seldom was anyone arrested for a DWI. Frat parties were wide open and there was no enforcement of anything regarding campus parties in general.

It has tightened up, but I’m not naive enough to believe they run as tight a ship as the UF officials may want to indicate.

Some of the schools I visited did this too. It’s a show for the parents.

I was happy to learn that UF is no longer the number 1 party school. A strong party reputation does not bode well for a school’s academic reputation.

Yeah, because being #2 party school is THAT big of a difference! They will STILL have a reputation as the biggest party school for at least one more year, did you forget who just won the NCAA Football National Championship?

Princeton Review rankings make me wonder sometime. They change, but sometimes don’t accurately reflect if they are actually the “3rd most beautiful campus in the world”. If you look at the Most Beautiful Campuses from years past… the awards change drastically. PR doesn’t want to see someone hold the #1 spot for more than a year.

You’re right, it isn’t much of a difference, but the majority of publicity regarding the PR party school ranking is centered around the school that is ranked No. 1…
