Penn State Smeal

@tucgee422 - I actually thought you get “into Smeal”. Most of the schools I have already been accepted to admitted me directly into their business schools. I guess I wasn’t listening at the visit. So when you are accepted to Penn State you can go into any school in a year’s time?

@Swimming123 Do the schools that you’ve already been accepted to have class requirements and grading requirements that you need to meet to stay in the major? That’s basically what Penn State does. You get in as a freshmen, and then you take classes and obtain the required GPA and then you transition to the full major your junior year. ONLY undecided (DUS) or actual Smeal pre majors can take the Smeal classes that are required. You can’t be an engineering major, and then change to Smeal junior year without being very far behind. That’s because there are entry to major requirements that everyone must meet. So for Smeal for example, these are the entry to major requirements:

As you can see, the student must be in DUS or Smeal to qualify and have taken certain classes by end of sophomore year and obtained a certain GPA.
