I am a HS Senior that applied on August 1st as a DUS major with Summer session as an option. SAT is 1150 with GPA (W) 3.991 and GPA (UW) 3.79.Class rank is 20/158. I am an out of state student attempting to get accepted to University Park. Course rigor consist of 3 years of Spanish along with 12 honors/AP courses(11 honors with 1 AP). Father and 1 brother are alumni and a brother is a current student. Good EC’s and part time work.
Given the greater emphasis that PSU places on GPA, you should be ok for summer, although your SAT score is 100 points below the 25th percentile for accepted UP students.
One concern I have is that DUS has become the back door for getting into business and engineering, so undecided is actually becoming more competitive than applying to some of the other colleges like education, liberal arts, agriculture, etc.
I am considering an environmental major but I wanted to keep my options for business open through DUS. I will look further into the AG majors.
I’ve heard College of Ag is easier than DUS. If you look through previous acceptance threads, you should find Ag accepted students with stats similar to yours. You’d be a good candidate and may not even require a summer start.
